WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - A third figure in the page scandal threatening to envelop House Speaker Dennis Hastert suggested Wednesday the speaker knew of an inappropriate e-mail that Rep. Mark Foley sent to a Louisiana boy before the matter became public.
Rep. Rodney Alexander, R-La., the congressman who sponsored the page at the heart of the furor, said Hastert "knew about the e-mails that we knew about," including one in which Foley asked the page to send his picture.
The speaker has said he was not aware of the e-mails when they were discussed with his staff. The No. 2 House Republican, Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, and House GOP campaign chairman Rep. Tom Reynolds of New York, said they had spoken with Hastert about a complaint concerning a former page from Louisiana last spring, after Alexander told them about it.

Remember back in 2003 when Tom Ridge (Homeland Security Secretary) suggested that Americans buy plastic sheeting and duct tape to protect them from a biological or chemical attack? First of all, it would be totally useless to try to seal yourself off from chemicals or toxins using duct tape. Second, it shows just how clueless this administration is. So, how do they top that? Well, now that you can't bring liquids or gels onto planes because they may be bombs, the Bush administration has decided on the best way to properly dispose of the potentially harmful liquids and gels. They're giving them to homeless people! This is a true story (Credit to www.Americablog.com for the scoop.) These potentially explosive & poisonous shampoos, body gels, deodorants and mascaras are not even being checked to see if they are in fact bombs. So if one of the prohibited items is a bomb, a homeless person or social worker will be the first to know (and die). But they're homeless, so what the hell. By the way, just watched that sahow on FX called 30 days and the guy was living on minimum wage for 30 days and he caught hell. Everybody should watch that episode. It was really enlightening. I'm blogging while listening to the a police scanner via the internet. It's pretty tight. Till next time.

Lieberman in Big Touble! The Bush kiss was too much!

Smooches!!! (This Photo has not been doctored in any way. Bush kisses Lieberman on the cheek.) In recent months I have really grown to dislike Joe Lieberman. His staunch support of Bush on the War in Iraq was the turning point. And let's remember, he was one harshest critics of Clinton when he lied about his affair, but lets Bush lie about a war that gets people killed. Dead. I can't wait until next Tuesday so we can throw the bum out. He says he's going to run as an independent if he fails to win the democratic nomination. If he loses he should accept the fact that the voters have spoken and take his ass home.

A similar survey July 20 showed Lamont with a slight advantage for the first time in the campaign."Senator Lieberman's campaign bus seems to be stuck in reverse," poll director Douglas Schwartz said. "Despite visits from former President Bill Clinton and other big-name Democrats, Lieberman has not been able to stem the tide to Lamont."

So, I'm hoping for a Lamont victory so we can add one more "Real" Democrat to the senate.

New SUV in the future?

Okay, as you've read the Suburban needs a new heart (engine) and I think it's about done. It's a 1993 so it's seen better days. It's going to cost about 2 grand to put in a new one so that'might be the deal breaker right there. I just bought the Honda Prelude and I love that it takes on $30 to fill it up. I want an SUV (to tow the boat) but I don't want anything nearly that big ( $120.00 to fill it up) and I really want to stay away from American vehicles. I know, I know... Buy American, but I've had nothing but trouble with Detroit cars. I'm thinking about getting the vehicle you see here. It's all-wheel drive, stylish, and made by Mercedes. But now that Chrysler is part of Benz I don't know... But I'm sure Benz won't even let Chrysler employees VISIT the plants where they make their cars, so I'm going to trust it. If things go right I might have it by Christmas or February at the latest. Right now it costs about $12-15K for a nice one so I'll see what I can come up with. It's 3:30 am so I need to get to bed so I can (finally) make church in the morning. Later.

NOOOO way can we have a little black pickaninny run for the highest office in the land that is exclusively reserved for white men. Especially if she were to run against Hillary. Even so, Rice ran into tough questions from lawmakers of both parties on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee over Iran, Iraq and the Palestinians, underscoring congressional worries about administration policies throughout the Middle East.
"I don't see, Madame Secretary, how things are getting better. I think things are getting worse. I think they're getting worse in Iraq. I think they're getting worse in Iran," said Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb.
"Opportunities missed," said moderate GOP Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, referring to the slow-moving Mideast peace process and the recent Palestinian election triumph of Hamas, the militant group. "Now we have a very, very disastrous situation of a terrorist organization winning elections."

So, condemn Condi for Bush's fuck ups and let Bush go free. Why did we go to Iraq again? There are 100 civilians being killed in Iraq everyday in a civil war we helped start. That's equivilent to one 9/11 tragedy every month. Every 30 days!!! And we wonder why the arabs and Muslims hate us. And Bush's strategy? "Stay the course". The course is fucked up and we need to get the hell out of there ASAP. More later.

Okay, I know this may be beating a dead horse, but fuck it, I hate these crooked, arrogant bastards so here goes. First, Dick Cheney needs to be able to STAY AWAKE (second instance linked) during important meetings (especially when the press is covering it). Bush hits a new low in the polls of 29% which is still remarkably high to people with a brain... I have heard somewhere that about 40% of the country reads at or below an eighth grade level, so I guess it works out. How do you feel about the government tracking every call you make or receive on your telephone? Bush thinks it's just dandy. The White House is still trying to distance itself from Jack Abramoff, and thus released a log of his visits to the white house. Both of them. Gimme a break, he's been there at least a half-dozen times. Can there be anymore scandal this week for the Bush Administration? I mean it is Friday afternoon. I guess not. 4 days of scandal is more than enough for the wee.....uh, oh! What's this? What's coming across the wires on CNN right now? Oh, you've got to be shitting me. We all know that the director of the CIA, Peter Goss, resigned this week without an explanation, but now it looks like his executive director is in big trouble too. Bush appointee Kyle "Dusty" Foggo's house and office were just searched by the FBI. It seems he has been under investigation by the FBI, IRS, Defense Criminal Investigative Service and the CIA's inspector general, said FBI spokeswoman April Langwell in San Diego. Damn Bush, you just keep the good times rolling!

I watched with amazement the Sunday talk shows where the republican spinmeisters were in full effect. They were talking about how well Iraq is going and how it's tough but it's really getting better. Bullshit! Here's an excerpt from the NY times.

"Three years after the American-led invasion of Iraq, top Bush administration officials today reiterated their upbeat assessment of the American military effort and political progress in the country, insisting that the violence plaguing Iraq did not amount to civil war.

President Bush said Sunday he was encouraged by the progress toward forming a unity government in Iraq.

An escalation of sectarian killings since the bombing of a Shiite shrine in a city north of Baghdad last month has intensified assertions that the country is in the throes of a civil war. The latest came today from Iraq's former interim prime minister, Ayad Allawi, in an interview with the BBC.
Mr. Allawi said there had been a daily average of 50 to 60 people throughout the country being killed, "if not more" in the wake of the shrine attack in Samarra.
"If this is not civil war, then God knows what civil war is," he said."

With recruitment at an all-time low (or very near it) I think we should give those people who really support Bush and his policies a chance to put their money where their mouth is. I'm going to post a link here for Operation Yellow Elephant. In short, this program goes out and tries to recruit young college Republicans to join the military and fight and die for their country and their president. Since they sincerely believe in what Bush is doing in Iraq, let them help him by sacrificing themselves for a "noble cause". But of course they spoiled, rich, cowardly brats won't hear of it. They say they can do more for the troops by staying home and supporting them here by blogging and speaking out in support of them. The name they have come up with for them is the "101st fighting keyboarders."

Religious Right Thanks God for Dead Soldiers!

You have got to see what the religious nutjobs are doing at funerals for our veterans who have died in Iraq. It's disgusting! Read below.

DODGE CITY, Kansas (CNN) -- This past Saturday morning I found myself in a five-car caravan cutting across the Kansas plains with about 30 religious protesters. In the back of a truck, there were signs that read "Thank God for IED's" and "Thank God for Dead Soldiers."
I was with the Phelps family. They've launched a disturbing campaign to tarnish the funerals of fallen soldiers.
This is a painful drama playing out at dozens of military funerals across the country. The group is led by Fred Phelps.
He and his family have picketed and heckled military families at more than 100 funerals since June. They say the soldiers are fighting for an army that represents a country that accepts homosexuality.
I have spent a great deal of time in the last few weeks tracking the movements of Fred Phelps and his family. Saturday, I followed him and his family from their home in Topeka, Kansas, to a funeral in Dodge City, Kansas.
Fred Phelps is the pastor of Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka. The congregation is made up mostly of his family. Phelps has 13 children, 54 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He describes himself as an "old-time" gospel preacher who says, "You can't preach the Bible without preaching the hatred of God."
Phelps and his family have made a name for themselves by showing up at high-profile events preaching their hate-filled brand of Christianity. They blame homosexuals for the destruction of America.
This past weekend's target was Army Sgt. Jessie Davila.
Davila was killed February 20 in Iraq by a suicide bomber. He served as a Marine after graduating from high school. He returned to civilian life, and had a daughter. But he was always a soldier at heart, so two years ago he joined the Army National Guard and was three months into an Iraqi deployment when he was killed.
This is also very much a story about another phenomenon the Phelps protest has created. That's the birth of a group called the "Patriot Guard Riders." They're a volunteer group that came together after hearing that so many military families were being blindsided by the protesters.
More than 400 motorcycles thundered toward this showdown in Dodge City this weekend to make sure Sgt. Jessie Davila's funeral was not overshadowed by the Phelps protest. They converged from small towns all over southwest Kansas to support Sgt. Davila's family. One group leader says, "I knew we would have a crowd, but I didn't know it would be this big."
The procession of rolling thunder escorted Davila's family from memorial services to the grave site on a quiet hill.
In the end, Sgt. Davila's family says they were only able to hear a little bit of the Phelps protest. Davila's mother, Linda Claus, says she's grateful for the Patriot Guard Riders. But she also wants other military families to be aware that this could happen to them.
"When people begin to know what they're (Fred Phelps' family) really doing -- killing the American Dream -- they won't be around very long, because nobody's going to let them. They'll drown them out. They'll be gone," Claus said.
Since CNN started airing reports on these funeral confrontations a few weeks ago, the Patriot Guard Riders say its membership has almost tripled. And more than a dozen states are now considering legislation that would restrict protesting at funerals.
The Phelps family vows to continue these protests. They might be outnumbered, but the way the Patriot Guard Riders see it, it only takes one of them to dishonor the memory of a fallen soldier.

Former disaster agency chief Michael Brown is indicating he is ready to reveal his correspondence with President Bush and other officials during Hurricane Katrina unless the White House forbids it and offers legal support. Brown's stance, in a letter obtained Wednesday by The Associated Press, follows senators' complaints that the White House is refusing to answer questions or release documents about advice given to Bush concerning the Aug. 29 storm. Brown quit as director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency days after Katrina struck. He left the federal payroll Nov. 2. In a Feb. 6 letter to White House counsel Harriet Miers, Brown's lawyer wrote that Brown continues to respect Bush and his "presidential prerogative" to get candid and confidential advice from top aides. The letter from Andrew W. Lester also says Brown no longer can rely on being included in that protection because he is a private citizen. "Unless there is specific direction otherwise from the president, including an assurance the president will provide a legal defense to Mr. Brown if he refuses to testify as to these matters, Mr. Brown will testify if asked about particular communications," the lawyer wrote. Brown's desire "is that all facts be made public." Messages left with the White House were not immediately returned Wednesday. Two weeks ago, Bush defended his administration's stance on withholding some information, saying that providing all the material would chill the ability of presidential advisers to speak freely. The White House has given thousands of documents about the storm response to Senate investigators. Brown is set to testify Friday at a Senate inquiry of the slow government response to Katrina. Contacted Wednesday, he referred questions about the letter to Lester. The lawyer described his client as "between a rock and a hard place" between the administration's reluctance to disclose certain high-level communications and Congress' right to demand it. "Mr. Brown is going to testify before Congress. If he receives no guidance to the contrary, we'll do as any citizen should do - and that is to answer all questions fully, completely and accurately," Lester said. The letter set a 5 p.m. EST deadline Wednesday for the White House to reply to Brown. That passed without a response, Lester said. Some administration officials have refused interviews by Senate investigators or have declined to answer even seemingly innocuous questions about times and dates of meetings and telephone calls with the White House. The leaders of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee have accused the White House of crippling their inquiry after FEMA lawyers prohibited Brown from responding to some questions during a Jan. 23 staff interview. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine and Joe Lieberman, D-Conn., did not have an immediate response to Brown's letter. At that interview, Brown told investigators he was aware of management problems at the agency that were highlighted in a consultant's report months before Katrina. He attributed some of the problems to the agency's merger with the Homeland Security Department in 2003. WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush gave new details Thursday about a foiled terror attack in 2002 in which plotters planned to use hijacked commercial airplanes to strike the West Coast.
Bush said the West Coast plot targeted the tallest building in Los Angeles, since renamed the US Bank Tower, and involved Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the mastermind of the September 11 attacks, who was captured in 2003.
Bush had referred to the plot before. In an address last October, Bush said the United States and its allies had foiled at least 10 serious plots by the al Qaeda terror network in the past four years, including plans for September 11-like attacks on both U.S. coasts.
The White House initially would not give details of the plots but later released a fact sheet with a brief, and vague, description of each.
One of the 10 cases involved Jose Padilla, a former Chicago, Illinois, gang member who converted to Islam and allegedly plotted with top al Qaeda commanders to detonate a radioactive "dirty bomb" in a U.S. city.
Padilla, whose plot never materialized, was designated an enemy combatant by Bush and is being held without criminal charge at a Navy brig in South Carolina.

But again, it seemed very uncomfortable to say something like that in a funeral with the president right there. It seemed like bad manners.
LOWERY: Well, I don't think so. I certainly didn't intend for it to be bad manners. I did intend for it to -- to call attention to the fact that Mrs. King spoke truth to power. And here was an opportunity to demonstrate how she spoke truth to power about this war and about all wars.

So I'm comfortable with the fact that I was reflecting on Mrs. King's tenacity against war, her determination to witness against war and to speak truth to power.

She walked with her husband during the bus boycott. Their home was bombed. She endured the threats and the slanders. When Dr. Martin Luther King was shot in Memphis, I called her to inform her that he had been shot. She organized his funeral. And she came to Memphis to lead the march he was to lead. She shared his sense of commitment.
President Bush has announced that he will attend her funeral to honor her. He will do so after releasing a budget that calls for spending nearly $600 billion on the military next year alone -- including $120 billion for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. While military spending is going up, spending on education, on cancer and heart disease, on cleaning up the environment, on worker training is going down. Bush is pushing to cut Medicare even as he demands that his top-end tax cuts be made permanent. Student loans will be more expensive; the military's weapons will be more exotic.
Those were not the priorities of Dr. Martin Luther King or of Coretta Scott King. Dr. King warned us at the height of the Cold War of the terrible moral costs of devoting more of our resources to war and weapons than to moral uplift. It was Dr. King who understood that the war on poverty at home was lost in the jungles of Vietnam.
Bush will pay tribute to Mrs. King, no doubt, but she'd much prefer he pay tribute in his budget than in his words. And for African- Americans, the announcement of his visit might well be greeted with apprehension. Two years ago, the president laid a wreath on Dr. King's grave, then announced he would ask the Supreme Court to outlaw affirmative action. Then he celebrated Dr. King's birthday and announced a recess appointment of Judge Charles Pickering -- a right-wing judge opposed to equal protection -- to the federal bench. This year, the wolf in sheep's clothing will praise Mrs. King, but his budget eliminates the Office of Minority Health, and he's leaving tens of thousands of Katrina's poorest survivors scattered across the country, with no plan to bring them back. His HUD secretary says New Orleans will not regain its population or its black majority. "

Okay, I don't even know where to start. I guess I would start with Tom Delay getting the judge removed from his case because he is a democrat and gave to democratic causes. Hmmm. I wonder if a judge had given to, let's say, a shelter for battered women, would he/she be recused from a spousal abuse case? Or if I had a judge who gave to N.O.W. could I ask for another judge because I don't like the fact that she may be biased against men. This sets a precedent which is unbelievable. And now he's trying to have the case removed from Travis county because it is heavily democratic. He is such a snake. I'll post more later.

When hard times hit, African-Americans are usually the first to feel it because many have low incomes. Often blacks serve as a barometer for the rest of the country. Now only 2% of African-Americans support Bush. And with an error margin of a few points it might be less than that. Remember when the crack epidemic hit in the 80's? Many whites were saying "why do they take those drugs?".. "They need to take moral responsibilty". "They're criminals and they are destroying our society with their drug use." "Lock em up and throw away the key".. and so on. Now if we look at the Meth epidemic plaguing whites in the "heartland" and "bible belt" of the south we don't hear that same rhetoric. As reported by MSNBC and the AP, Tom Delay has been indicted again for money laundering. This is on top of his conspiracy indictment. I hope he goes on the Sunday shows again to try to explain this one away. But, those are the republican weaknesses that they can't turn away from: Greed and Power. They claim to hate big government, but only when that government helps people who have no influence or wealth. Way to go Tom... Now I'm just waiting for the photo of Delay in handcuffs... So if Judith Miller never published her story about the Plame leak, why was she sent to the slammer? Why is Novak still free? From what I understand, the investigation should be wrapped up this month. Somehow, I think Rove is going to survive... Bush could always issue a presidential pardon, no matter what he's accused of. Scooter is toast I think... But Cheney doesn't need him as much as Bush needs Rove. My guess is that Scooter will be the fall guy. Now that Tom Delay, leader of the republican house, has been indicted, others may soon follow. The republican leader of the Senate, Bill Frist, is being investigated for insider trading. Not to mention the Karl Rove investigation that has already landed a NYTimes reporter in jail and caused Robert Novak to lose his cool. It's really funny how the GOP ran with the slogan "character counts" in the 2000 election. The wheels are coming off the fu**in wagon as Bush sees his second term collapse before his eyes. I've noticed a lot of the lefties in the blogosphere asking the same question: Why don't the democrats call for impeachment hearings on Bush? Why don't they shut down the government to bring attention to this administration's failed policy? Could you imagine if Iraq or Katrina had happened under Clinton's watch? You know why? Because they are scared shitless! And with good reason. Karl Rove is a political genius. I think he's disgusting, but I have to give credit where credit is due.

Bushco has manage to cow the Democrats (and a few moderate republicans) with political gamesmanship that is unrivaled. Just look at how they've destroyed top democratic leaders. A short list:

Al Gore
John Kerry
McCain
Max Clelland
Bill Clinton
Tom Daschale

Gore, Kerry McClain, and Clelland are legitimate war heroes and they destroyed them with smear and innuendo.
I know I've left out a few others, but you get the picture. But I wonder why some democratic members of congress in safe seats haven't uttered the "I" word. I remember during the Clinton years polls actually asked if Clinton should be impeached. I have not seen one on Bush. Not one. The only congress member that has any balls is my representative John Conyers. And I'm not even going to get into the cowardly media.
